Navigating Networks: Teacher Resources
Navigating Networks: Teacher Resources
Welcome to the teacher resources page for the Navigating Networks challenge! Here you will find links for a variety of resources: the student-facing challenge materials, a teacher guide for the challenge, a slide deck for the challenge, and some tips on implementation models and recruiting judges.
Mathematical Standards
Graph Theory*
- Build connected graphs (networks) to model distribution.
- Define the nodes and edges of the graph and create innovative edge weights that reflect real-world criteria relevant to efficient distribution.
- Use Kruskal’s algorithm to optimize networks based on students’ innovative edge weights.
*The CCSS-M standards do not address graph theory, despite its emphasis in the high school course Discrete Math. Thus, this document describes the content addressed by the Navigating Networks challenge rather than the standards.
Additional Resources
The resources in this section are the same for all challenges.
