PAID Professional Development

The Design & Pitch Team is offering 20 hours of PAID professional development for middle and high school teachers in person at the Friday Institute on NC State’s Centennial Campus. This three day professional development runs from Monday, August 7, through Wednesday, August 9, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, and will engage teachers in the D&P process, challenging them to both work through the challenges and think about how to implement them in their classrooms. Additionally, teachers will receive $400 for participating in the PD and $250 for implementing a D&P Challenge in their classroom!  Sign up here! See the flyer below for more details.

Noteworthy accomplishments from our team

Spring 2021 Virtual Pitch Competition

In Spring 2021, we opened our Ambassador Pitch Competition to any teacher who wanted their students to participate. As part of the competition, teachers implemented one or more challenges with their students and submit teams’ video pitches to the Design & Pitch team. We then scored the pitches and selected the top 4 to participate in a final competition. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the final event was cancelled.

Ambassador Pitch Competition

In Fall 2020, we hosted a Design & Pitch Competition for those teachers who completed our professional development in August 2020. The top 3 teams competed in a “Top 3 Live” event on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Express Yourself, a team that developed customizable face masks, won the judges over with their creative and timely use of LEDs. Congratulations to Express Yourself and all teams who participated this semester!
