Competitions
The Design & Pitch Challenges in STEM are meant to get students engaged in messy problems that they care about. One of the ways we do this is through district-wide competitions, in-person camps, and virtual pitch competitions. Learn more about each of these types of events below.
District-Wide Competitions
Wake County Competition
We had a fabulous time at this year’s annual WCPSS competition. Interested in sending students to the competition? Stay tuned for the link to register here next year! We are asking all teachers to register their teams by February 15th. If you are completing your challenge after this date then please put “to be determined” in the space that asks for student names.

Design & Pitch Camps
Our camps bring students together to solve real-world problems that they care about. During these week-long day camps, students will work in groups to develop solutions to one or more of the D&P Challenges, which are built to allow for maximum creativity in students’ solutions while also engaging them with rich mathematics. Science, technology, and engineering also play a key role in the contexts and solutions students will encounter throughout the challenges. Our team likes to offer these camps during the summer months to help students engage with mathematics outside of the school year, so keep a lookout for our future offerings!

Virtual Pitch Competitions
While we enjoy working with students in person, we love to interact with students from across the globe. As such, we occasionally offer virtual pitch competitions, which bring the thrill of the Design & Pitch Challenges to any computer in the world.
