PAST OPPORTUNITIES

Discussion Day
Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:00am – 11:30am
Coastal Ballroom of Talley Student Union

  • Discussion Day is a professional development opportunity for pre-service and in-service educators who are interested in learning how to have better classroom discussions. The strategies are most appropriate for middle and high school students.
  • Discussion Day will take place in the Coastal Ballroom in NCSU’s Talley Student Union on Saturday, September 14 from 9:00 – 11:30am. Free parking is available in the Coliseum Deck on Saturdays.
  • During Discussion Day, you will experience a set of discussion strategies and learn how to be a facilitator the Dining with Democracy Event, which will take place in the same location from 12:00 – 2:30pm. Lunch provided. During Dining with Democracy you will serve a table facilitator for about 8 participants (mostly undergraduate students at NCSU, but the public is also invited). This will allow you to see political discussion in action, using one of the strategies that we learned in the morning. We strongly encourage you to stay for both events.
  • Eligible participants will receive PGU (NCSU students) or CEU (in service teachers) credits for their time.
