As signaled in its name, K.L.I. helps children build content <strong>knowledge<\/strong>, notice and reflect on English <strong>language <\/strong>structures, and engage in <strong>inquiry<\/strong> processes through teacher-supported discussion and fluent reading opportunities with expository texts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each K.L.I. module focuses on a content area topic (e.g., robotic technology), introduced with overarching inquiry questions that serve as a thread connecting the activities across 41 lessons, each lasting approximately 20-30 minutes. The lessons are organized as a repeating sequence of five components: Discovery Reading, Confident Reading, Breaking Words, Sentence Workshop, and Uncover the Structure. The repeating components provide a predictable structure and enable students to become familiar with the routines and to take increased responsibility for leading the activities over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information about our design-based process for developing and refining the intervention can be found in our published <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/full\/10.1177\/23328584251323893\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">usability<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/00220671.2024.2449035\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">feasibility<\/a> studies.
